Get the look: Katie Lee Joel's home
I fell in love with Katie Lee Joel's home in an issue of Domino (RIP Domino!) a few years back. I've kept the article because I just love her style. She does a great job of using rich, sumptuous fabrics in neutral colors that are contrasted with the metal and glass in her tables. The overall effect is beautiful! I've also included some basic pieces I've found so you can get the look. Then have fun adding accessories to make it your own!
I love Katie's living room. It is soft modern...it's so cozy but so chic!
Fabulous contemporary ottoman by Lexington.
This chair by Lexington is the perfect blend of classic and modern. The tufted back is reminiscent of a traditional Chesterfield, but the fact that it is low and armless with clean lines make it on trend.
Very sleek cocktail table by Bernhardt. Love the fun design in the center.
Love this sofa by Baker. It would be fabulous in a black velvet fabric.
Katie's library is so stylish and yet lived in. So many wonderful elements-texture, muted colors, and all those wonderful books on fabulous built ins-come together to create a lovely space.
Loving this stately cocktail table for a different texture.
The Riviera chest by Lexington is so chic and yet so classic.
I love this cozy sofa by Norwalk.
A deep green velvet armless chair by Lexington adds an element of "cool."

Carried away...
I am going to confess something. For the past 8 years I've been having an affair. With a television show. I have never loved a show or movie more than I love Sex and the City. (Well, besides The Sound of Music but that's a whole other can of worms.) My friend Kim (who is 27 today btw) introduced me to the show and I've been in love ever since. It is glamorous and over the top and yet often it's so real it's crazy. Since today is the opening day of Sex and the City 2, I would like to pay homage to my girl Carrie, the person I strive to emulate in everything I do...down to the stack of Vogues strategically placed next to my bed. Her apartment is truly fabulous. Above are the many faces of Carrie's abode...

Dreamy bedrooms
This is from one of my most favorite blogs, Absolutely beautiful things. Everything about it makes me swoon...the wallpaper is classic and mixed with the geometric rug, it is truly fabulous! And any girl who displays her purse and books proudly is wonderful in my book.
How clever mixing the more modern painted stripes with that traditional floral wallpaper...

Setting a fabulous summer table
Always in style, Jackie Kennedy was a pro at putting together a lovely table.
Love the idea of using new and vintage blue and white with those fabulous pink peonies!
Pretty in pink!
Very fun chalkboard table by the one and only Martha
I always get so inspired at Anthropologie. Love this tablescape with sand! So cool!
Here's the whole thing...Such a fun, easy idea for summer!
And of course I adore the amazing chandelier.
We did this French themed table for the Children's Hospital tabletop party at the Ritz this year. We wanted the theme to be noted but not overwhelming. Little details like the teeny Eiffel tower charms on the pink ribbons that held the napkins made it fun. Of course the magnificent floral arrangement made it super glam. I loved the crystal wine goblets, too for a touch of sparkle.

So excited for summer!! Now if it would just stop raining...Happy decorating!

My first Blog!
Welcome to peace.love.chandeliers. As a child, my most favorite thing was a big, giant, sparkly chandelier. What's not to love? It's like ceiling jewelry. I am now an adult and this love continues. It's part of the reason why I do the job I do. I'm an interior designer and get to look at chandeliers pretty much every day.
This blog is not just about chandeliers, though, it's about everything beautiful. I think it's important to be surrounded by beautiful things, no matter your definition of beauty. I always tell my clients to use my designs as a backdrop--the space planning, fabrics and furniture can only do so much. The most important things are the family photos, books and heirlooms. These things are priceless things of beauty.
Speaking of beauty, I thought it would be appropriate to start my blog with some truly fabulous chandeliers.
